Photo-etching & Enameling Workshop with Adam Clark and Deb Lozier
2 for 1 Workshop - Learn 2 Techniques in 1 Weekend!
When: February 3 & 4, 2007 10am-6pm
Where: Adam Clark’s Scintillant Studio:1258 Valencia Street, SF

Course Description:
Day 1 - Photo-etching: This class will cover how to set up a simple low cost ferric chloride etching bath, use it to transfer any black and white image onto metal and etch it into the surface. This process has many uses in metalwork including a wonderful background for enameling. At the end of this class, you will have an etched piece ready for enameling in day 2 of the workshop. Day 2 - Enameling: This class will cover the basics of etching copper for enamel applications. Color, design and experimenting with the process will be the emphasis of the class. Enamel fused onto copper turns this humble material into an amazing range of color. Fusing the enamel with a torch creates a spontaneous and direct approach to the process. Etching the metal creates a wonderful opportunity for pattern and texture and is a perfect foundation for many enamel applications. Prerequisite: Basic metalwork & jewelry skills.
