Course Description: Granulation is a method of decorating metal with tiny metallic spheres. Tiny beads of metal

Some stones will be available at the class. Prior to the workshop, Diane and Kate will make granules using a specific alloy 18K gold for you. They will also make some granules during the workshop to demonstrate the granulation process. At the completion of the workshop, you will walk away with a beautiful Byzantine design pendant.

About Diane Dewey & Kate Short:

Diane Dewey received her BFA degree from Loyola University in 1989. For over 11 years Diane has been making 18K gold granulation jewelry for Kent Railbe using his technique for granulating 18K gold instead of the traditional 22K gold. Diane has been a member of The Metal Arts Guild for two years.

Metal Arts Guild Sign

The Metal Arts Guild sign, first shown at the SNAG Conference last week, was a big success! Many individuals have already signed up to participate in the second phase - making a frame for the Metal Arts Guild sign. Each person will be given a 1" x 1" square (or possibly a larger rectangle depending on the number of volunteers) to embellish in any manner they choose. The "Square" must be finished by July 29th or sooner. That gives you two months for a small job.

If you are interested in participating in this project, please let Harriete Estel Berman know as soon as possible. Members who have not made a letter will be given a priority for this opportunity; this way more members can be part of this memorable project.

Do not start your square yet! You will be mailed a metal component to embellish (along with some guidelines) to assure that all the squares will fit together.

The sign will be viewed at future exhibitions, MAG events and shows. It will be a memorable archive of the Metal Art Guild members.

If you signed up at the SNAG Conference in San Francisco, you do not need to contact Harriete again. Any questions? Call Harriete Estel Berman 650 345-4078 or Shelander@att.net

Please include your complete Name, address, city, zip, phone, e-mail

Thanks,
Harriete
